Our business was first started by Wilfred N. Van Kempen, who formed W.N. Van Kempen Ltd. The company remained in the family, as Wilfred was later succeeded by his son William R. Van Kempen. In 1985, Van Kempen Insurance Associates Ltd. was formed by Kip Van Kempen. Best Buy Insurance was established in 2005 and the following year, the Witty Insurance office was purchased.
Now, decades later, Kip's daughter Gillian Van Kempen is the fourth generation to embrace the industry, and to lead the organization. What is a registered insurance broker?
A registered insurance broker is an independent insurance professional. In Ontario, they’re governed by the Registered Insurance Brokers Act of Ontario. Brokers sell general insurance including coverage for home, business, automobile, farm, boat, ATV, life, etc. They’re well-versed on the various insurance products available, and can offer several choices from a variety of insurance providers. Unlike an insurance agent, brokers aren’t affiliated with any insurance companies or financial institutions – which means you’ll benefit from independent, unbiased advice. Your broker represents your best interests when negotiating a contract with an insurance provider.
